And here is how the weekend works.

This River Bash Event is designed to be a gathering for many different Outdoor activities throughout the weekend with one culminated dinner/party event on Saturday night. Climbers, Canyoneers, Rafters, Kayakers, bikers and Hikers alike can come together this weekend for a three day festival of Outdoor activities. Each day there will be several optional activities posted at base camp for individuals to participate in.

Our VOLUNTEER RAFTERS will invite you to raft down the mild to wild rapids of the Kings. VOLUNTEER Kayakers will safely meander down the class two section of the river.

Canyon and Climbing leaders could be setting up the ropes for some mild to technical canyons or climbs. Bikers can ride through the hills alongside Kings River and Pine Flat Lake, and finally, Hikers will find a nice trail to Garlic Falls or many of the other trails with scenery and serenity to round out their experience. Each adventure (other than the rafting/kayaking ) through depends on the group and someone willing to lead it. I will have postings at base camp where people can sign up so that you can see who wants to do what.

As for the canyoneering: I will be setting up a different event on Meetup where you can sign up for that particular activity. This way it will be easier for the volunteers to manage.

Here is a draft agenda (subject to change) of our planned activities so that you can arrange your day.

Friday
Night: Movie Night of past adventures

TBD Climbing: Depends on if a leader steps up. A leader might put together a group to climb the Patterson Bluff area early on Friday.

TBD Biking Group - sometimes a group will organize to get together and bike the area on Friday. No leader yet.

• Breakfast
• Morning Rafting and Kayaking Run - 18 spots in rafts as of today

Sunday

Here are a few of the options other than the planned activities that you can choose to do:

Climbs
- Patterson Bluff Climbing:

Biking
- Road biking around Pine flat lake
- Wildflower ride
- or double track alongside Kings River

Hikes
- (Can’t list them all but here are a few good one.)
- Up to Garlic Falls
- Into Kings River Canyon
- Up to Black Hills Resevoir
- Up near the Jump Canyon

We are NOT enlisting the services of any commercial companies for any of the activities. This will be ran, organized and volunteered by the veteran EXPERIENCE Leaders from the club. If you plan on coming up Friday evening from LA/OC rather than early Friday or Saturday, plan on a lot of traffic and a late arrival. The road from Fresno to the river is windy and dark and the sign to Kirch Flats is really hard to see. My advice is try to come up earlier in the day if you can or set up a temporary Friday night camp and move on Saturday morning.

If you also want to lead your own activity up in the area. There will be a bulletin board at the campsite to post your individual activities. People can then add themselves to your day trip or activity. If you are interested in leading a trip, just do a little research and post your trip as an event during the same time period. If you are leading a hike, please limit your group size to 15 people to minimize the environmental impact.

We will host a BBQ on Saturday night, the nucleus of the event. Bonfire Socials will be held Friday and Sat night. Friday's Dinner is usually up to you. Sometimes groups will organize between themselves to potluck. You bring your good spirits and we will bring some fun for the evenings. HOWEVER DRUGS, AND DRUNKEN STUPIDITY WILL NO LONGER BE TOLERATED. YOU WILL BANNED FROM THIS MEETUP IF YOU DO EITHER. There are many other places to camp dont bring it to ours.

Breakfast will be available each morning to help you fuel up for the day’s activities you choose to participate in. PLEASE MAKE SURE TO DRINK PLENTY OF WATER THROUGHOUT THE DAY. We will have coffee in the morning and filtered water, and juice at all times at the campsite. The campsite we have chosen will serve as the social gathering point/campsite and Hub for the various activities that will be posted for each day. Bring whatever you personally like to drink, but like I said before...drink responsibly. For everyone’s comfort there should be no smoking in or around any of the venues.

FYI: Just to clarify about the activities that will be taking place at this event.

Equipment that is provided: Do not email/call to reserve just get it at the event

Rafting: Paddle and Life Jackets will be provided along with some things to keep about 8 people warm: some dry pants, dry tops, and about 10 water shoes (sizes 6, 8 and 10).

Canyoneering: I have a few things and will be discussed on the canyon scheduled meet up.

Kayaking: Nothing is provided, bring your own.

Biking: Bring your own bike.

This event will fill up fast. The first 50 people to send in there checks/paypal will take the spots available. This trip WILL fill up. It did last year and the year before it did within 4 hours. This event may be rescheduled due to weather, but it will not be cancelled. Since spots fill up there are no refunds (makes it too chaotic) just sell your spot (selling spots are not available 1 month before event).

As I get your confirmation check/paypal I will start scheduing you on the raft boats. The first spots I get will be first serve (Sat Morn). Raft trips will be going out...Sat morn, Sat Afternoon, and Sun morning with up to 18 people per trip. If you prefer to be on a trip at a certain time, please indicate that with your deposit. I will start posting names and raft trip times as it gets closer to the event.

Looking forward to meeting and enjoying the outdoors with everyone. Let’s have some fun!
